Using multiple songs in a slideshow

You can add one music track per slideshow, unless you have multiple sections, in which case you can assign a different song to each section. Here’s how: Adding music to a slideshow.

But you may want to include more than one song within a single section. At this time, there’s no way to do this within the Phanfare software, but there’s a fairly simple way to seam multiple tracks together using Windows Movie Maker (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/default.mspx), which is available free from Microsoft to users of Windows XP and Vista. To see if it’s there, click the Windows Start button, select All Programs and look for Windows Movie Maker.

1.Launch Windows Movie Maker (WMM).

2.Click ‘’’Import audio or music’’’ from the Movie Tasks list on the left side of the screen.

3.Select the tracks you want to import. You can select as many tracks as you wish. Hold down Ctrl or Shift to choose multiple tracks at once. Click Import. Repeat this step until you’ve brought in all the tracks you want to merge.

4.If WMM isn’t showing the timeline at the bottom of the screen, click the Show Timeline button.

5.Select the imported tracks and drag them down to the beginning of the Audio/Music track.

6.Select ‘’’Save to my computer’’’ from the ‘’’Finish Movie’’’ section of the ‘’’Movie Tasks’’ list.

7.Choose a filename and click Next. Don’t worry that WMM refers to the file as a ‘’movie’’.

8.On the Movie Setting page, you can leave the default, ‘’Best quality for playback on my computer’’ setting. Click Next.

9.In a few seconds, WMM will have created your merged song and saved it to your My Videos directory. Deselect ‘’’Play movie when I click Finish’’’ selected and, well, click Finish.

Now, add your new merged song to Phanfare’s Music Library the way you would with any music file. The Artist, Album and Track Title fields will probably be blank, so change them to something recognizable.
