Phanfare has released an upload tool to move your photos from Adobe Lightroom to your Phanfare albums. Click here (http://www.phanfare.com/apps.aspx#Lightroom2) to download the plug-in.
Installing the Plugin
Copy the plugin file to your machine in a temporary location and unzip the file.
On Windows XP
- Move the phanfare.lrplugin folder under your Application Data Directory to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules where 'username' is your Windows login name.
- The Application Data directory in 'username' may be hidden. To view this folder select Tools -> Folder Options. Select the View Tab. Under Advanced Settings, Files and Folders, Hidden files and folder, select the Show hidden files and folders. Click OK.
- If the Modules directory does not exist, create it.
On Windows Vista
- Move the phanfare.lrplugin folder under your Application Data Directory to the folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Lightroom\Modules where 'username' is your Windows login name.
- If the Modules directory does not exist, create it.
On Mac
- Double click on the phanfare.lrplugin package in the Finder and follow the instructions to install. It will automatically place the Lightroom files in the correct folder
- Alternatively, you can place the phanfare.lrplugin folder in the same folder as the lightroom executable, ie Lightroom.exe or Lightroom.app.
On All Platforms
- Restart Lightroom after installing the plugin
Using the Exporter
Select the photos that you wish to upload to Phanfare. Uploads go into one Section in an Album. If you wish to load into different sections/albums, each of those will be a separate export.
- Open the export dialog under File --> Export.
- Select the Exporter by clicking on the title bar in the upper left, then selecting Export to Phanfare from the dropdown list. Note: You have to click the image bar to find the export to Phanfare option. Here is a mini-movie to show you where to find it if you can't: http://screencast.com/t/xuDmpGhT
- Login with your email address and password as you would to Phanfare. * Click Sign in and it will authenticate your login and pull your album information
Upload to an Album
- Select the album from the dropdown. You will see a summary of the number of photos and album permissions.
- Choose the section that you want to place the photos into
Click Export at the bottom.
Create a new Album
- Select the New Album button. This brings up a dialog box similar to the one on the web site
- Enter an Album Name (required) and an optional description.
- Change the permissions if desired. By default Friends and Family are selected.
Manage Sections
- Once an album is selected you can manage the album’s sections. By default the Main Selection is always created. An Edit option is given so you can change the first section if you are creating more.
- To add sections simply click the ‘New Section’ button and fill in the section name and description
- The first section only shows in your album if you have two or more sections. Changing the Main Section only will not reflect in your album until you create a second album
Hiding Photos
- To aid in archiving your photos you can use the star ratings in LightRoom to only show some of your photos. Check the ‘Hide Images’ option and select a start rating from the dropdown. The exporter will load all of the selected photos to Phanfare, but mark any below the starred rating as hidden. You will be able to see them in your edit album view, but they will not display in the album view. In this way you can easily upload all of the photos from a batch for archival reasons, but only display the ones you want on the web.
