Phanfare Mac Client 2.6.0 (July 21, 2008)

  • Added auto-captioning by filename on import

Phanfare Service 2.6 (July 21, 2008)

  • Videos rendered in H.264 format for higher quality videos at lower bandwidths. Flash Player 9.0.115 or later (http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_15507) required. Viewers with older versions of Flash Player will be shown an appropriate Flash rendition.
  • Replaced album-level comments with image-level comments. Existing album-level comments converted to comments on the first visible photo or video in the album.
  • Users can now purchase archive DVDs (http://www.phanfare.com/apps.aspx#DvdArchive) either on-demand or via a quarterly subscription.
  • Improved iPhone viewer including an updated Table of Contents, display of message feed, and visitor reports

Phanfare Mac Client 2.0.5 (May 19, 2008)

  • Exporting selected images is now available from the thumbnail context menu.

Phanfare Service 2.4.2 (May 14, 2008) Enhancement to the web interface for managing your photos and videos:

  • Music upload/import from itunes. From the album option menu you can upload an mp3 or import from itunes using a java applet. Only thing missing is music preview.
  • Style picker. If you click on "change style", you will see the full list of album styles.
  • Reorder sections. If an album has multiple sections, you can change the order of the sections.
  • Move images. If you select images and click on "extras" you will see the option to move images to another album. (This is a cut and paste, not copy and paste.)
  • Image detail. From image detail, you can view and edit captions. Plus, clicking on info includes a link to get external links for individual photos and videos.
  • Clicking "preview slideshow" will play the slideshow and leave you on the album page when it is over.
  • From any album, you can click on "show all albums" to see a view of all of your albums.
  • Drag and drop. You can drag and drop images directly onto the java uploader, including from iphoto and picasa.

Other features in this release:

  • Friend Finder. There is now a place on your Phanfare home page that shows you connections of your connections that you might want to connect with. From the "see more" link you will also have the opportunity to search your email address book for contacts that are already on Phanfare.
  • Inviting friends/family to a group. There is now a link that allows you to choose existing friends/family to invite to a group without having to re-enter their email addresses.
  • Visitors by day. This report now shows you the names of the visitors who came on each day.
  • Slideshow changes. Added the names to appear under the buttons in the slideshow controls. Fixed a bug where videos were playing only in smallest rendition in many instances.
  • New privacy setting. If you don't want visitors to your shared albums or even friends of friends to be able to ask you to connect, you can choose to only allow connection requests from people who know your email address.


Phanfare Mac Client 2.0.3 (May 7, 2008)

  • Enabled "Export..." feature, available from the File menu.
  • Added tooltips and caption indicator to image thumbnails.
  • Deleting items that are already in the Trash asks if you would like them permanently deleted.
  • Permanently deleting an image or video will cancel its upload.

  • Changes to the registration process.
    • The invitation email has changed to clearly state that you must join Phanfare to view albums

    • New members will be sent first to their own Phanfare home page (formerly, the dashboard) with very clear links to navigate to the shared albums of their connections.
  • Improved navigation and streamlined Phanfare home page.

Phanfare Service and Windows Client 2.1

  • Adjust notifications - choose which of your friends/family will be notified of the new album. This does not change who has access to the album (ie, if they go to your site, they will still be able to see the album) but will prevent Phanfare from sending them a content notification email. (web and Windows clients)
